New Zealand - Country Exploration Talk

April 25, 2008

Ms Jamna Naidu Tan, the Business Development Manager of NZ trade and enterprise presented the talk on 25 April 2008, Friday from 1pm till 2pm. The occasion was well attended by 33 students including Pathways staff. The ONE hour presentation broadened our understanding of what the scenic country really is, the culture and the people. We were amazed at how the aborigines of Aoteroa (a native name for New Zealand), the Maori people greeted their friends by rubbing noses. We also cannot imagine that the number of sheep is so overwhelming that the ratio of people to sheep is 1 to 40. More so, the world’s most southern university is New Zealand’s first established university named University of Otago. Notably all universities in New Zealand (actually only 8 altogether) are recognized by the New Zealand government and internationally and are of equivalent rating and ranking. Last but not least, the lasting impression to this country of the southern hemisphere is of course the beautiful and serene scenery of Canterbury situated in the southern island and with the hustle and bustle city central in Auckland of the northern island of New Zealand.
